FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Research Checker
Everything you need to know about using Research Checker to evaluate medical research ideas.
How accurate are the evaluations?
The database counts and DOI links are real. They come from live API queries to PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Europe PMC. The novelty assessment, gap analysis, and competitor scan represent AI-informed judgment based on these real data points. Use it as a powerful screening tool to guide your research planning, not as a replacement for a comprehensive literature review or expert mentorship.
Is my research idea stored or shared?
No. Your input is processed entirely in real-time. Nothing is logged, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. Once your browser tab is closed, your query is gone permanently. We have no user accounts and no way to recover previous searches.
Which databases does it search?
PubMed (via NCBI E-utilities API), ClinicalTrials.gov (API v2), and Europe PMC (which indexes Cochrane Library content, clinical guidelines, preprints from medRxiv/bioRxiv, and additional sources beyond PubMed). PROSPERO is checked via targeted search and direct links are provided. See how it works for a full breakdown.
Can I use this for non-medical research?
ResearchChecker is optimized for medical and biomedical research, particularly systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical research. The database integrations are specific to biomedical literature. The AI can reason about other fields but the evidence grounding will be weaker outside biomedicine.
How should I phrase my research idea for the best results?
Be as specific as possible using PICO format: Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome, and Study Type. "Meta-analysis of PD-1 inhibitors versus chemotherapy for first-line treatment of microsatellite-stable colorectal cancer" will produce far better results than "cancer treatment research."
Is this free to use?
Yes. ResearchChecker is currently free to use with no account required.
